The title interpreted means I spent Mother's Day in Florence which was wonderful. After finding a campsite late on Saturday night (this time we stayed in permanent tents) we awoke to a sunny, hot day in Florence. The campsite had a fantastic view over the city of Florence and was within walking distance to everywhere we wanted to go. Ignoring the groans from our children that it was too hot to walk we set off for the Ponte Vecchio (Golden Bridge) and then into the square that holds the Statue of David. To our amazement there is an open air museum housing many priceless sculptures in the same area.
Whilst Craig and I marvelled at yet more astonishing pieces of Italian art, the boys were entertained by the many street performers. As an added bonus, Florence was celebrating the unification of Europe so there were outdoor bands, dancers and displays with free giveaways to add to the days' festivities.
It was a wonderful way to spend Mothers' Day. We are a little behind in our blogs so I will keep this one short but stay tuned for the next few which contain photos of the spectacular caves we visited in Slovenia and the beachside relax we enjoyed in Croatia.
Ciao Bellas
